Education
Many talented students in underserved communities in Ghana qualify for university but are unable to attend because they cannot afford tuition, books, housing, transportation and other expenses.
Social Justice Global works with promising students beginning in their junior and senior years of high school. We help them understand the university and scholarship application process and provide guidance as they prepare for higher education.
Our goal is to ensure that academically gifted students with strong character and a commitment to their communities and the world community at large, have the opportunity to pursue a university education.
2026: Our two scholarship recipients for 2026 are Shaibu Bello and Zaidu Ibrahim.
Shaibu is an outstanding student with a passion for aeronautics, science and research. Despite limited opportunities to pursue aeronautics in Ghana, he remained focused on his goal and excelled in mathematics and science. He was admitted to the University of Science and Technology to study aeronautical engineering.
Impressed by his academic achievement, strong character and commitment to learning, Social Justice Global awarded Shaibu a renewable scholarship covering tuition and the financial gap in room and board expenses. We congratulate him and look forward to seeing what he achieves.
Zaidu comes from northern Ghana and is one of five children. After the death of his father, his mother, a peasant farmer, was left to support the family. Although Zaidu earned admission to the University of Ghana to study accountancy, the cost of tuition and living expenses put a university education beyond his family’s means.
We were impressed with his determination to support himself through work with a local car mechanic shop. Social Justice Global awarded Zaidu a renewable scholarship covering tuition and the financial gap in room and board expenses. We congratulate him and wish him every success.

Libraries
Many children in underserved villages and urban communities in Ghana have little or no access to libraries. Most libraries are located in Accra, leaving children in smaller towns and villages without easy access to books and other educational resources.
The Kokrobite Library
In 2020, two teenagers started a library in Kokrobite, a small fishing community in Ghana with donations from the Chevy Chase DC library and parents of St. Albans School, Beauvoir School and others. After the founders went off to college, Social Justice Global decided to step in to support and provide sustainability. A local pastor provided space for the library and donations of books, LEGO sets and other educational materials were shipped from the United States.
The Library has grown into a welcoming place where as many as 40 children at a time can read, explore science and mathematics, build with LEGO and robotics kits, and participate in educational activities.
Expanding Our Support in 2025 and 2026
Social Justice Global expanded its support by funding a library assistant to organize and operate the library. It also continues to provide books, LEGOS, robotic materials and other educational supplies.
